Paul LaBine
Math Instructor
Paul started as a full-time Mathematics Instructor at GCC in 2014 and has over 15 years of teaching experience in mathematics. His academic interests and specialties include Probability/Statistics and Calculus material and methodology.
He has a BS in Mathematics (2003) and MS in Mathematics (2010) (Summa Cum Laude) both from Michigan Technological University (MTU). He also has a J.D. from UIC (2006), and is actively licensed to practice law in Good Standing both in California and in Michigan, and has also taught Business Law courses. He also practices law locally as a transactional lawyer. As a Hancock High School alumni and local, he is honored to serve as a City Councilmember in the City of Hancock since 2016 and has been Mayor of Hancock since 2019. He is also a member of Hancock Rotary and is a Past President.
When Paul is not working, he enjoys reading non-fiction books such as popular science, biographies, and history. His favorite books in no particular order are The Selfish Gene, Sapiens, Homo Deus, On Human Nature, Lolita, Moby Dick, and Blood Meridian. He also enjoys playing board games (casual to expert) and video games such as strategy games, RPGs, and FPSs. In the summer, he enjoys being in the middle of nowhere hiking and beginner to intermediate mountain biking.
