Komosa to join GCC Board of Trustees
Eve Komosa, of Ironwood, was recently appointed to the Gogebic Community College Board of Trustees and will serve until December 31, 2026.
Komosa was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and attended Lane Technical High School, graduating in 1993. She furthered her education at the University of Illinois at Chicago before transferring to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology in 1998.
She held several positions in the fields of environmental education and non-profit management between 1998 and 2009 including the following: Education Naturalist, North Park Village Nature Center, 1998-2000; Major Gifts Manager, The Nature Conservancy of Illinois, Chicago, Illinois, 2001-2003; Director of Education, Olbrich Botanical Gardens, Madison, Wisconsin, 2004-2008; Program Director, Northern Forest Canoe Trail, Waitsfield, Vermont, 2009.
In 2010, she transitioned to a career in healthcare, initially working as a Licensed Nurse Assistant for Fletcher Allen Healthcare in Burlington, Vermont, before completing a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2013. She relocated to Ironwood, Michigan in 2013 to serve as a Family Medicine Physician Assistant at Aspirus Ironwood, where she continues to practice today.
In the Ironwood area, she has volunteered for the Gogebic Range Farmer’s Market Association and Iron County Farmer’s Market. Previously, she volunteered in several settings related to environmental education and health care in Chicago and Urbana, Illinois; Madison, Wisconsin; and Burlington, Vermont.
She and her husband Darrin Kimbler enjoy outdoor recreation, travel, and raising vegetables and Icelandic sheep on their small family farm.
