GCC Summer youth programs - exciting, affordable, and engaging

Join us for a week of activities in June geared toward students in 6, 7, or 8th grades. We have opportunities in both Ironwood (June 12-16) and Ontonagon (June 19-23).

Registration opens March 20, 2023. Seats will fill fast, so please don't delay in returning paper applications by March 31, 2023. We will be holding information sessions at schools around the area.

BASIC REGISTRATION INFO

The cost for all summer youth programs is $70.00 per participant and includes the following: daily lunches, snacks, t-shirt, tailored instruction, program supplies, fun activities. 

Registration opens March 20, 2023 and remains open until programs are full. In order to register for our programs, participants are encouraged to complete the program application and submit payment by the “Priority Registration Deadline” on March 31, 2023. 

Before participants pay for the program, they are encouraged to see if they are eligible for the Upward Bound TRIO Scholarship (details below). Participants not eligible, but are still interested in scholarship opportunities, please contact our team at SYP.GCC.GOISD@gogebic.edu. 

Program payment will be accepted via any of the following options: 

    • Check (addressed to Gogebic Community College) 
    • Money Order 
    • Credit/Debit Card (via our online payment system - Online Registration  

TRIO SCHOLARSHIP

GOISD students in grades 6-8 who meet both eligibility requirements listed below, can receive a scholarship from TRIO Pre-College Programs - Talent search to cover all camp fees.

Eligibility requirements:

    • Student must be a potential first-generation college student whose birth/adoptive parents have not earned a four-year
      college degree AND
    • Household income must fall within the TRIO Federal Income Guidelines

Note: Students in foster care or who have a court appointed legal guardian (who has not officially adopted them) are
automatically eligible.

SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAMS 2023

Students will prepare lunches & snacks while learning helpful tips & tricks for food safety & making healthy choices. FREE for students. Please use the paper enrollment form. Paper Enrollment Form
Students will learn communication skills and techniques for playing on an ESPORTS team and enjoy gaming opps.
Students will create, build, and take home a product, as well as tour and utilize awesome welding facilities.
Students will utilize GCC science labs and learn about the Great Outdoors through hiking, touring, and field activities.
Animation, Gaming, Programming, AI, Electronics. Students will explore the "behind the scenes" for popular technologies and produce their choice of tech project.
Students will learn about the responsibilities and techniques for caring for children and practice skills for confident care.

Hiking, Photography, CPR, First Aid - Students will have a chance to dabble in a variety of outdoor, life-long skills in the beautiful UP summer nature.
