

Cynthia Brandon-Slocum

Cynthia, who's been teaching English at GCC since 2014, received her Bachelor of Professional Writing from Grand Valley State University, followed by her Master of Fine Arts in Creative Non-Fiction Writing from NMU.
Before teaching, Cynthia wrote for a newspaper, designed brochures for a nonprofit organization, and taught at NMU, Gonzaga University, North Idaho College, and Anoka Ramsay Community College! Her creative writing can be found in North American Review, Orion, Water~Stone Review, Fourth Genre, and other places. Along with her full-time class load, Cynthia is the managing editor of the online literary magazine Sundog Lit and runs the student book club at the Copper Country Center.
In her spare time, Cynthia loves to play tennis, run, kayak, hike, and camp with her husband in secluded areas and make elaborate dutch-oven meals over the fire.
