Are you interested in Pursuing criminal justice?
The Gogebic Community College Criminal Justice Program, in partnership with The Michigan State Police Wakefield Post, is hosting a Law Enforcement Career Academy. The academy is designed for individuals age 16 and older who want to find out if a career as a state trooper, deputy, or municipal police officer is for them.
Academy participants will be mentored by Michigan State Police troopers and officers from other local agencies. Participants will learn what it is like to be a law enforcement officer by getting hands-on experience in a controlled environment. Hands-on activities include moderate physical fitness, patrol activities, first-aid and CPR training, defensive tactics, crime scene investigation, and live controlled scenarios.
The 2025 Academy will be held June 9, 2025 - June 13, 2025 at Gogebic Community College Ironwood campus. Tuition is free of charge and GCC will be covering the cost for students to stay in on-campus housing during the academy.
