Business Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to:

  • Business Knowledge Foundation – Graduates of the program will demonstrate basic business knowledge and ethical decision making. 
  • Accounting Skills – Graduates of the program will obtain basic accounting skills, including tax, cost, financial, and managerial accounting, needed for an entry level accounting position. 
  • Digital Literacy – Graduates of the program will demonstrate knowledge and use of key digital accounting tools, including Quickbooks and Excel. 
  • Communication Skills - Graduates of the program will develop interpersonal skills to craft and present oral, written, and digital messages within and outside an organization.

Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to:

  • Business Knowledge Foundation – Graduates of the program will understand basic business functions, including accounting, marketing, and management, demonstrate knowledge of the general business environment, and understand how they apply to management of people and resources to be successful with their occupational degree.
  • Critical Thinking – Graduates of the program will be able to assess business scenarios to evaluate, analyze, and interpret information to achieve ethical decision making and problem solving. 
  • Digital Literacy – Graduates of the program will obtain competency with digital business tools, including Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook. 
  • Management and Communication Skills - Graduates of the program will determine how to organize and lead people, projects, and processes to effectively communicate and accomplish organizational objectives. 

Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to:

  • Business Knowledge Foundation – Graduates of the program will understand basic business functions, including accounting, marketing, and management and demonstrate knowledge of the general business environment, including the microeconomic and macroeconomic environments. 
  • Critical Thinking – Graduates of the program will be able to assess complex scenarios to evaluate, analyze, and interpret information to achieve ethical decision making and problem solving.
  • Financial Literacy – Graduates of the program understand that accounting is the “language of business” and have the ability to use financial statements to evaluate the financial condition and profitability of the business.
  • Communication Skills - Graduates of the program will develop interpersonal skills to craft and present oral, written, and digital messages utilizing creative and innovative approaches.

Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to:

  • Apply a systems-level perspective to describe the structure of and relationships between computer hardware, software and networks.  
  • Utilize increasing levels of abstraction, problem-solving, and project management skills in the design and analysis of processes, systems, or applications to meet desired specifications.  
  • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively in applying their knowledge to address organizational needs through information systems.  
  • Understand the importance of ethical/professional responsibility and maintaining lifelong currency in the field. Graduates will have enhanced command of critical thinking concerning computer ethics, privacy, and security. 
  • Apply mathematical and logical foundations and algorithmic principles to the solution of problems in computing.
  • Program in 2 languages and understand the programming language hierarchy.
  • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively in applying their knowledge to address organizational needs through information systems.

  • Understand the importance of ethical/professional responsibility and maintaining lifelong currency in the field. Graduates will have an enhanced command of critical thinking concerning computer ethics, privacy, and security.

  • Creativity and Innovation – Graduates of the program will identify a real-world problem and develop an innovative business model solution. 
  • Decision Making and Problem Solving – Graduates of the program will create a sustainable business model to meet the needs of a real-world problem through development of a business plan. 
  • Financial Understanding – Graduates of the program will identify the resources needed and a means to acquire the necessary resources in order to successfully execute their business model.
  • Communication Skills - Graduates of the program will utilize interpersonal skills to craft and present an oral, written, and digital version of their business plan.

Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to:

  • Apply data content, structure, and standards in health information.
  • Apply policies and procedures as well as evaluate the revenue cycle management process.
  • Apply, analyze and evaluate regulations, coding, fraud surveillance and clinical documentation improvement.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills when working with clients, coworkers and physicians.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in general software applications, the electronic health record and encoder systems.
  • Interpret principles of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and disease processes to various healthcare contexts.

Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to:

  • Recognize data content, structure, and standards in health information.
  • Describe the revenue cycle and reimbursement in healthcare.
  • Determine meaning and demonstrate clarity of facts and ideas in regards to regulations, coding, fraud surveillance and clinical documentation improvement.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills when working with clients, coworkers and physicians.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in general software applications and the electronic health record.
