Gogebic Community College Awarded Xcel Energy Foundation Grant to Support STEM Students
Ironwood, MI — August 26, 2025 – Gogebic Community College (GCC) is proud to announce that it has been awarded a $7,000 grant from the Xcel Energy Foundation to support students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
This marks the fifth consecutive year GCC has received support from the Foundation, which first awarded the college a $4,000 grant in 2020. Since then, Xcel Energy Foundation has steadily increased its investment, recognizing the college’s commitment to preparing students for high-demand careers in STEM fields.
The grant funding will be directed toward student scholarships, program development, and hands-on learning opportunities that enhance the STEM educational experience at GCC.
“We are extremely grateful to the Xcel Energy Foundation for their continued support,” said GCC President, Chris Patritto. “Their investment helps us open doors for students, provide access to vital resources, and ensure that our graduates are prepared to meet the needs of today’s workforce.”
The Xcel Energy Foundation focuses its charitable giving on education, workforce development, and environmental sustainability, with an emphasis on supporting local communities. By funding STEM education at GCC, the Foundation is helping to build a stronger regional workforce and encouraging innovation among future generations.
With this grant, GCC will continue to provide its students with pathways to success in STEM-related fields that are critical to both the region’s and the nation’s future.
