Anthony Schwass

Director of the Copper Country Center

Anthony joined GCC in 2023 as the Director of the Copper Country Center. He has a bachelor degree in Human Resource Management and a master degree in Business Administration, both from his alma mater, Davenport University.

Anthony was born in the UP, but spent most of his life as a troll south of the straits. After a detour to be a touring musician in a rock band for several years after high school, he went back to college and earned his degrees as an adult learner.  His experiences during that process inspired him to pursue a career in higher ed… First working in the Metro Detroit area with students transferring to DU from community colleges, then at the main campus in Grand Rapids directing the undergraduate admissions team.

An exciting opportunity to step into the Dean of Enrollment role at Finlandia University brought him back “home” to Hancock, where he directed the admissions, marketing & communications, and financial aid teams until the institution’s closure. His leadership style and higher education passions include unwavering positivity, collaboration and communication with an emphasis on strategic partnerships and community awareness… All integral pieces of growing enrollment!

Anthony’s greatest loves are his family (wife Amanda and children Elliot, Charlotte, & Evelyn), the Chicago Cubs, loud music, and UP weather.
