Rayona Suelflow, of Ironwood, was selected for the Phi Theta Kappa All-Michigan Academic
Team based on academic achievement, community service involvement, and leadership
accomplishment. Rayona is in the running to be one of the 20 students chosen for the
All-USA Community College Academic Team.
Rayona is a non-traditional student working towards an associate degree in Natural
Resources at GCC and also a SAMI (student ambassador) for GCC. Last summer, she worked
for the Iron County Land and Water Conservation Department as a conservation technician,
with a focus on invasive species management. After she graduates, she hopes to pursue
a career in conservation. Ms. Suelflow is the Treasurer of Alpha Rho Chi, GCC’s chapter
of Phi Theta Kappa. Through PTK, Rayona helped
organize a donation drive in early 2023 on the GCC campus to supply aid for orphanages, camps, and hospitals in affected regions of Ukraine. Through this effort, she hopes to showcase the positive global impact that community colleges (and students) can make. Congratulations Rayona!
