Women's Basketball Coach


Mark Movrich, of Bessemer, MI, was hired in 2013 and is the sixth women's basketball coach in school history at Gogebic Community College.

Mark has served as the Head Coach of the Boys' Varsity Basketball program at A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer for the past 17 seasons and has lead the Speedboys to much success in both regular and post season play including conference, district and regional championships. He currently teaches junior and senior high school Science with the Bessemer Area School District.

Movrich's coaching experience at Bessemer includes: Boys Varsity Basketball, Assistant Football Coach, Boys/Girls Golf, Boys Freshman Basketball and Girls Junior Varsity Basketball. He has also assisted with summer basketball camps at the University of Michigan, University of Wisconsin and served as the Dollar Bay Boys Junior Varsity basketball coach, Girls Junior High and Junior Varsity Basketball in the early 1990s for two years.

He has been active in fundraising, running basketball camps, and organizing the elementary/junior high traveling basketball team in Bessemer. He also coordinated and ran the successful Gym Rat Basketball Camp for the past six summers.

He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering: Structural Design and Analysis and a Michigan Professional Teaching Certificate with a major in Physical Science and a minor in Mathematics from Michigan Technological University.
