Job Description:

This position is responsible for the management of the winter outside operations, physical plant, buildings and grounds at the Giants Ridge facility. This position provides direction, supervision and leadership to the staff, assuring that the facility operates smoothly and safely at all times; and, that all equipment, buildings and chairlifts are maintained with industry standards to provide a safe work environment and quality experience for the guests.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Ski area experience in outside operations, maintenance, snowmaking and repair of all types of ski area equipment including chairlifts 
  2. Minimum two year post-secondary degree in Industrial Systems/Mechanical Technology related fields or higher degree 
  3. Two years supervisory experience that includes effectively giving verbal and written work instructions, directing and mentoring subordinate staff, working with clients and visitors

  5. Computer and software knowledge, experience with Microsoft Word and Excel or similar programs 
  6. Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  7. Exceptional knowledge of building maintenance, mechanical and design functions

Former Navy admiral and congressman Joe Sestak is seeking applicants for a non-paid telecommuting internship position.

Qualifications
Applicants should be dedicated individuals who are bright and have a passion to achieve. Interns with diverse majors are welcomed and desired to apply, from engineering and political science to mathematics to communications, and should draw upon a strong background of analytical and qualitative skills in order to accomplish assignments. No prior political experience is required, as interns will gain comprehensive knowledge of the inner machinations of policy and politics and a deeper understanding of the issues that face our country today. Microsoft Office fluency is a must, as well as online research skills.

Responsibilities
Interns will be assigned to specific projects of well-defined categories that are include, but are not limited to:

Policy research: Develop a broad research plan on a topic, then, utilizing resources such as non-partisan policy institutes and academic journals, examine, analyze and identify salient facts that are needed to support a specific op-ed, policy paper, or speech. Researchers will have to employ their own ingenuity and creativity to apply found facts in an innovative way.

Data management: Learn the latest of various advanced database and data management software. Interns will be tasked with maintaining systems related to donor, supporter, and communications management, as well as learning the latest techniques and technologies employed by the most cutting-edge of political campaigns and private corporations.

Communications: Produce communications of substantive creative and policy scope, from blog posts and press releases, to op-eds and speeches. Interns will gain knowledge of the various standards and requirements of each medium, as well as learn and employ techniques to maximize media impact.

Expectations
Interns are given specific instructions on each assignment, and appropriately guided throughout the process. Work is continuously reviewed, as it is accomplished through a shared virtual server or collaboration software. Regular phone meetings are scheduled to supplement cnstant electronic exchange and communication, as well as virtual video meetings, depending on the project. Interns are expected to turn in assignments on time, but consideration of a students’ semester schedule is given when assigning due dates.

This seven-month seasonal position, running mid-August until mid-March, is concentrated on the technical service and sales of alpine skis and ski boots. The City of Casper is seeking a Ski Area Manager for the Hogadon Ski Area. This position oversees Hogadon, a local family ski area, which is located 15 minutes south of downtown Casper. Our facility offers snow sports school, equipment rentals, racing programs, cafeteria/restaurant and ski patrol services.

This position requires a highly motivated and creative individual that desires a rewarding career. To ensure success, the ideal candidate should possess strong oral and written communication skills, be a “forward thinker” and have strong management skills.

A successful candidate will possess an Associate’s degree in business, public administration or a related field. A Bachelor’s degree or course work in ski area operations is preferred. A minimum of five years of increasing responsible experience in ski area operations, including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility is required.

Construction Inspector

This position is part of the REACH-3MC program as well as the REACH-3MC II program funded by the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009. Merit, in collaboration with many partners, has plans to construct over 2,200 miles of fiber optic infrastructure to provide broadband internet to unserved and underserved areas of Michigan. This investment by the Federal Government, Merit and its partners of $128.6 million will benefit public schools, universities, libraries, state and local governments, hospitals, non-profit organizations, about 77,000 businesses and over a million households.

This position will support the Merit construction team and assist project contractors working in the field to comply with environmental permit conditions. Extensive travel is required, approximately 95% of the time. Travel will be throughout Michigan and northern Wisconsin. The person in this position will be trained to identify wetland areas and other sensitive natural resource areas, and prepare written reports to document compliance with environmental permit conditions.
