The Gogebic Community College Foundation is hosting the third annual ‘Taste of the Gogebic Range’ on Monday, April 16, 2012 in the David G. Lindquist Student Center. This event features samplings and offerings of food and beverages from area restaurants, businesses and caterers.
A social hour will be offered from 4 – 5 p.m., with the ‘Taste’ available from 5 – 8 p.m. Coffee and punch will be available free of charge, beer and wine will be available for purchase.
According to Foundation Director Kelly Marczak, there will be at least 16 different restaurants and/or businesses offering samples of their most enticing menu options. “Each attendee is offered the opportunity to sample from each of the participating businesses, and with most of the businesses offering more than one sample we can guarantee that no one will leave this event hungry!” Samples include soups, salads, appetizers, entrees, sandwiches, beverages, and desserts.
Participating businesses include: Angelo’s Pizza, Breakwater Restaurant, Don & GG’s, Elk & Hound, Freddie’s Old Time Saloon & Eatery, Harry’s Southern BBQ, Iron Nugget, Little Pizza Place, Manny’s, Maplewood Steakhouse, Old World Meats, Pine Lake Lodge, Pines German Restaurant, Sharon’s Coffee Company, SkyLawn, and Steep Creek Café. Additional businesses may be added.
There will be two contests going on during the event. The ‘Tasters’ Choice Award’ will be voted on by the attendees, and the ‘Best of Show Award’ will be decided by special judges. Booths will be judged on overall display, presentation of food samples, and taste. Trophies will be awarded at the end of the event that night.
Tickets are limited and are by advance purchase only, at a cost of $20 per person. There will be no ticket sales at the door.
