New Hybrid Vehicle Added to Growing Automotive Technology Program

Over the past 18 months, the Automotive Technology program at Gogebic Community College has experienced a true transformation. Curriculum has been redeveloped and Ed Gorman was hired as the full-time lead faculty member in the program.

Through an impressive team effort involving community members, GCC faculty and staff, and significant grant awards, the program received its National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) accreditation in November, 2011 and added significant equipment and technology to the program.

This year the program also experienced a significant increase in enrollments, a positive sign for what is to come. Furthermore, beginning in Fall 2012, the program will begin an articulation partnership with the Gogebic-Ontonagon Intermediate School District. The program has had a long-standing partnership with the CCISD. Stronger collaboration with Michigan Technological Instituteís Diesel and Hybrid Energy programs is also underway.

Enrollment for next fallís program is limited. Students interested in Automotive Technology should apply for admission as soon as possible to ensure a spot in the next class. For information, contact the GCC Admissions Office at 932-4231 ext. 207.
