For the second time, Gogebic Community College has been named
as one of the top ten percent of the community colleges in the United
States by the Aspen Institute and the US Department of Education.

The Gogebic Community College Basketball program experienced a very successful 2012-13 season. The Lady Samsons finished second in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Region 13 tournament with a 20-4 season record. The Samsons finished 23-5 and captured the Division II Region 13 Men’s Championship before falling to Central Community College of Columbus, Nebraska in the District play-in game for a berth in the NJCAA Division II National Championship. Dennis Mackey, Coach of the Men’s Basketball team and Athletic Director at GCC was named Coach of the Year for Region 13.
“Having 43 wins between the two teams has made for an awesome year of GCC Basketball,” said Coach Mackey. “This is the first time in the history of our program that both teams won at least 20 games in a season! We’re extremely proud of the accomplishments by both our teams – women & men,” said Mackey. |
