What is a Licensed Practical Nurse?
LPNS care for the sick, injured, convalescent, and disabled under the direction of a physician or registered nurse. They care for infants, children, pregnant women, adults, or the elderly.
The general duties of a Licensed Practical Nurse include:
Basic bedside care, vital signs, preparing and administration of medications and treatments like dressing changes. They assist with data collection, nursing interventions, development of client care plans and simple diagnostic tests. The provide emotional support for client and their families.
Hospitals, long term care facilities, outpatient and clinic settings, home health agencies and various community agencies employ successful graduates of the program. Salaries vary depending on setting and geographical area.
